UneARTh, 2024
Central to UneARTh is the use of the classical elements of Eastern and Western culture. Utilising space, air, fire, water and earth, as dynamic mediums to reclaim and reconnect with the historically erased female pioneers of Mesopotamia and their queer mythology, highlighting the major contributions these women made in shaping ancient history and culture. This body of work allows Mavanie to embrace their cultural identity and ancient heritage, many aspects of which have been obscured over time. By using the classical elements as symbolic tools of connection, UneARTh creates a space where both the ancient history and cultural significance of these remarkable women and the richness of Mesopotamian mythology can be re-examined, connecting the past to the present.
