City of Eridu, 2024
City of Eridu, (modern-day Abu Shahrein, Iraq) founded in 5400 BC, is considered the oldest city in the world. Eridu represents the creation of the world, the building of cities and the great flood.
The oldest recorded flood story is the Eridu Genesis, starring Noah’s counterpart Ziusudra (later known as Atrahasis) as the Mesopotamian hero. It was home to Enki, the god of creation, and water, it is also where Inanna travelled in order to receive the gifts of civilisation.
